Hey nbb,

as some of you might already know I am someone who absolutly loves MMORPGs.

In this thread I want to tell you about Black Desert Online.

First of all;

Official Website:http://www.blackdesertonline.com/
Reddit:https://www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline
Youtube:
  • steparu (for best graphics and pvp/pve content
  • trailer

Alright. First things first:

This game is eye-candy. I have never seen such a beautiful game. Not only the characters, but also the landscape. The storms, the storms in the night. Every-fucking-thing is beautiful in this game. Thus you should have a pretty good PC, too.

Alright, now that we now that this game is eye-candy I will not talk about the graphics again, because it's more than obvious that this game is absolutly beautiful. And of course, it's a huge + for the game.
I also want to note that I am not bashing the game, in no way. I love MMORPGs and I want to support them, no matter if they are something I want to play or not.
expect for metin2 but who the fuck plays that shit lmaooo

How they promised/advertised the game and what happend during the closed beta:

Here comes the first and biggest actual turn-off. BDO was advertised as a BIG open world, sandbox, PvP oriented (!) MMORPG. Shortly after launch of the first closed beta it was nothing more than that. I was perfect! You have had open housing zones, so everyone could see and enter your house (Like in ArcheAge), you were able to kill players while they were grinding or trading, you were free to do whatever you want. But shortly after the first closed beta, things started to change. The QQ about the PvP were big in Korea, so Daum changed it. Open world PvP, which was really hard advertised, became useless. You do lose karma when you attack someone (was always like that) but that have risen it insanely high. If you'd have attack someone, no matter if you'd win or lose the fight, you'd have to grind mobs for atleast 3 hours to get that - karma back. If you were unlucky your weapon broke and you had to kill them with your fists, which took insanely longer of course. You couldn't repair your weapon because you had bad karma. PKing shortly became something that no one cared about anymore. While EU/NA people cried on forums and reddit Daum just said that they maybe change it for the EU/NA/RU release (They didn't for RU release, yet). So what's left of the PvP? Right, Guild versus Guild PvP. Don't get me wrong, that can be fun, too, of course. But the thing is that you barely got into GvG if you don't have a high end guild and those obviously just take high end players. So for many players PvP died at all till they're high end, which isn't just a long grind, it's also very frustrating.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is simple. There is NO level cap. There is a soft one which is level 50. Then there's a hard cap, that's 55. 55 is already really hard to reach. I don't know the current highest level but it should be around 62 or something. You have quests but those are mainly for a kind of labor system. You cut a tree, you lose some points. Doing quests will give you seperate XP (not level XP) that'll increase the amount of points you can have. You generate points over time, automaticly. PvE is splitted, first, you got the grind for levels. Secondary you have open world bosses and dungeons. Dungeons aren't that easy but those world bosses are very easy. Both dungeons and bosses give loot and XP. You can also do trade runs for money. You make a pack and take it from A to B. While doing that you can get attacked from players (which will NEVER happen till they change the karma system because the reward will never pay the penaltys, not even slightly.) and you will get attacked by NPC, so you can say right now that trade pack runs are PvE.
BDO right now has no player-to-player trading. You can sell and buy stuff from an auction house, that's all.

BDO is an action MMO, so there is no tab targeting. You aim with mouse and fight with either combos (A+B makes attack 1, B+C makes attack 2 etc) or by simply pressing 1 for attack 1, 2 for 2 etc. But if you just do the simple version you do less damage then actually doing the combos by pressing the needed buttons. The combat is very fun. You have a good amount of classes in the game already. While they are gender locked they do have both genders for some classes because the community wanted so.

Care to give the game a try? DO IT!

Because it is completly worth it! Yes, the PvP sucks ass hard in this game and Daum and GameNet knows it and are aware of it. RU is still getting changed for the western community, even though I know it will fail because of GameNet. HOPES FOR EU AND NA, THOUGH. Daum will publish the game in NA and EU itself! So there is no waiting games for patches or whatsoever.

HOW TO PLAY SENPAI?
  • Korea version (most recent and updated one): Cost money because you need an identy pin,http://www.newgameway.com/product.php?gid=90
  • Japanese version: for free but with vpn, so you will lag. Also not up to date like korea
  • Russian version: F2P. Since some days IP blocked, just get a russian vpn, log in, get in your char and close VPN. Nearly no lag for us NA/EU'ers.
  • NA/EU: Alpha started already. Be lucky and get a key from their facebook site or some fansites.

Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, as.
