People also need to make money for a living or even on the side for some pocket money. If you are skilled in something that others have a demand for then you should be able to charge for that service.

Yes of course if you are skilled, but if you are just doing it for a hobby and messing around, then you don't need to charge.

Fair enough, but the only way to know if you are skilled and to learn how to do become better is by practicing and seeing what other people think of your work.
