Why is rap/hip hop the most popular genre?

I dont really understand exactly why so many people obsess over them so much, i mean its not that good . I feel like its uncreative and has no depth, however it does occasioanlly have a nice beat which i dont mind but for the most parts its ultra repetitive

Because rappers are good lyricists and they are not scared of doing marketing with there musics

probably because there's such a big variety of hip-hop right now

because this genre have strong lyrics and speaches also dont forget Michael jackson which make this genre popular more and more

But Michael Jackson was a Pop singer not rapper.

That's the point, there isn't any real depth in most peoples personalities either, that is why this material music works

nowadays are expressing the resistance, the same thing that rock made in the 80/90s. Now hip hop f*ck the system.

i think its because the culture created this image that we need to be famous, make money, do drugs, have lots of sex, etc and rap/hip hop encompasses a lot of that.

it also definitely has to do with marketing and how the media has influenced us over the years.

plus they target people at a young age to think that its the cool thing to do.
