Hey, im currently running an i5-2400 in conjunction with a GTX 1060 6GB. Im thinking of converting to Ryzen but still don't know if i should go with the newer R7 3700X or R7 2700X. The benefits i saw were the faster clock speeds but that is it. The nearly $100 premium doesn't seem worth it to me but may still go with it with a X570.

What are your opinions on the new Ryzens?

If you're going with a X570 motherboard you'll obviously have to go with 3rd generation Ryzen. The board is nice though because it supports the new PCIe 4.0 which is a step up from the previous generation. However, not too many things are quite utilizing PCIe 4.0 yet, so really all you'd be doing is getting ahead of the curve for potentially future updates. If you don't need that kind of bus bandwidth just yet, you can always go with the 2nd generation Ryzen on a B450 board and still have some damn good performance.
