Gothic 2 is my most favourite rpg of all time. Skyrim was just too big for me after some hundreds of hours played. I also love Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The fight mechanics and quests are just really good.

Chrono trigger for sure, if we're talking about JRPGs.

Otherwise, for western RPGs, I think I'd have to go with Charles Barkley's Shut up and Jam, Gaiden.

Fallout is a great series of games, The Witcher 3 iis amazing , Skyrim is probably the best.

No one is mentioning baldurs gate games. I mean come on, the characters, the story and most of all the mechanics.
