Does anybody build a website from scratch?

Hello,
I am new to web creation and have a doubt. After learning HTML CSS Js PHM SQL Responsive design and a bunch of stuff, I realise that it seems that nobody uses it. It feels like everything is based on templates, copy-paste, frameworks... It's not that I don't like it, I just feel lost.

What should I learn next to be up to date in web creation? I need front and back functionalitlies.

The people using templates correctly take advantage of the tools, resources, and inspiration provided by them instead of simply just pasting in their own text. You actually can learn a lot from well-made templates. However, in order to actually learn things, you have to understand them in the first place so that's where learning the basics comes in. If you want to innovate and not rely on templates as your crutch, then grind it out and start from the bottom.

Otherwise, switch to wordpress if you're not willing to go the distance.

Thanks a lot. I have in mind a blog-style webpage but with a shop. I'd need backend (user managment, posts, mailing...). I would like to do it from scratch, but I don't know if it would be a very silly idea.
For example, imagine the comments section of a blog entry. Is it usual to code everything? Is it normal to relay on code snippets?

i started with templates and moved onto my own designs. After time it is just much easier to modify a template.

Nothing is wrong with using a good made template and adding your own content. Thats why majority of companies sell them.

It depends on how comfortable you are with programming. It's not unnatural to have to rely on learning from things like snippets, but as long as you understand whythey work you should be able to take full advantage of them. However, with things that involve user inputs and payments, I'd probably look towards software that's well-established and secured. Last thing you'd want to do is put users' data at risk.

Yes, I totally agree with what you said about payment. I have some programing experience. I have touched, aside from web languages, C, C++, python, java...
I was thinking on some repetitive stuff you see everywhere.
Imagine the comment section of a blog. Should I program it with PHP on the server side, create a database to keep track of comments, users, blog posts, etc? I really think I would be able to code it with time, but it seems i'd be re-inventing the wheel. Are templates for those things as well?

Yes, there are services like disqus that are available and are commonly used on such sites.

building websites is my speciality i love doing it

For frontend look at AngularJS and Typescript. For Bbackend - look at some frameworks, like Slim 3.

Hey there! People still code websites from scratch, especially when they can't get a feature from available templates. The truth is nobody wants to rewind the winds. is smarter to build on what is already existing. cheers
