Is school a scam?

Be more specific, OP. Do you mean public school? University, what? Also, what country?

School is not a scam, because you learn and can achieve a lot with it.

I don't know what country you're in or what kind of education system you have but here in Ireland, I wouldn't call it a scam but we do waste a lot of time and money on bullshit. I'm in secondary school and turning 15 soon so I haven't finished school yet but I can still give my opinion based on what I have experienced in my school anyways.

We pay for an iPad, book fees, locker rental etc. The lockers can easily be torn into and have all your valuables stolen, we didn't get all the books we paid for and we hardly use iPads for work in my subjects.

When we do use iPads, the teachers use a lot of sites (Which requires internet). That's fine for the teachers who have a desktop connected to the internet via ethernet but the wireless connection is really shit.

Things like Business and History are things I find useful. Even some parts of Geography are alright.

A lot of stuff I learn in Maths I forget easily and I guarantee that I won't end up using any of it. We also waste time in subjects like SPHE, CSPE and a class at our school called wellbeing (A class where we are supposed to relax but that's
retarded.)

P.E is good since we all need exercise and I am a lazy fuck so I do benefit from that.

Irish (Gaeilge) is a complete waste since hardly anyone is ever going to use the language. (Only in some small parts of Ireland is it spoken). Most people speak English.

Science is useful and English is alright.

I also do woodwork but I wanted to do art (That class was full because it was popular). Woodwork is sort of useful but I don't like it that much.

I don't think my school is a complete waste or a scam as we do learn some valuable stuff and you can get a lot out of it but there is a lot of stupid shit too. (Depends on the school but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement at our school).

I'm also pissed off because recently our school stopped paying for showbie.com because they couldn't afford the license but they bought a flatscreen tv for reception just to display the school's logo.

EDIT: Forgot to mention German class. (I think it is definitely useful but I am probably going to forget most of what I learn after my exams and my German teacher is a rude bitch that should've retired already)

School is most definately a scam. Its there to brainswash kids into a specific mindset.
