Bernie Sanders, the old white guy; is planning on legalizing it for recreational use in US I believe.
That's all it takes to get my vote in the bag.

#17 Liberals are for legalization of pretty much everything that doesn't "hurt the environment", last time I checked.02-12-2015, 02:26 AMNever Wrote:02-12-2015, 02:25 AMAsa Wrote:Exactly, just being able to do your own thing and chill out at the house.02-12-2015, 02:10 AMNever Wrote: Yeah not risking jail time would be great right

Marijuana limits ones mental capacity, has long lasting effects on the brain, and is proven to be a dangerous substance. It can harm ones body, and health. Therefore, we can classify it as a dangerous and harmful substance. There's a reason it was illegal, and it should remain illegal for the protection of our people, and to prevent the status of our country from plummeting down further than it already is.
I also believe that alcohol is dangerous, and it causes just as much trouble as Marijuana. It's similar, and different to Marijuana, but it's still a drug-like substance. Alcohol causes abuse in families, car accidents, poor decision making and embarrassment. But it's effects are not as immediate in an adult body as smoking. Drinking can be ok, as long as it's not too much over too little time. Same thing with smoking (cigarettes), it might tear up your lungs, and burn your wallet, but it does not have any negative effects on the brain that can impair judgment.
If we legalize Marijuana, it will become wide spread throughout the population, just like Alcohol. The difference being, Marijuana will impact our workers, our students and everyone in between. If we legalize it, then the idea of "smoke weed everyday" will become a reality, and it will result in a severely handicapped population that lacks effort. Just because we have a cake, doesn't mean we need to eat the whole thing.
TL;DR: I'm against it. It'll make everyone retarded.

It'll make everyone go retarded? Please provide a scenario in which someone has died from smoking weed.
Now do the same for alcohol and cigarettes. I rest my case.

In the end I believe laws like those are just fucking retarded.
Laws are supposed to protect me from others, or others from me. (and of course just general rulesas in financial shit)
Them taking my freedom over my own body is just fucking retarded, if I would want to do heroin I should be able to as long as it doesn't hurt others.
And marijuana actually has a few things in it that are essential in certain medication, nor has it ever killed anyone. Does it have downsides? Sure. Should it be illegal? No.

Just a couple of many DuckDuckGo results. I'm sure you'll find more for Alcohol and others, because those substances are more common, and actually legal.
I'm not saying you can't be responsible with Marijuana as well as Alcohol. Both can change your judgment severely. Cigarettes can hurt you too, more in a physical way (Alcohol can do the same to your liver). Also creates an addiction for dopamine. Similar to Marijuana. If it makes you feel good, you'll want more, right? Same with energy drinks (this one gets me), pops, cake and whatever else you can pick up in an American gas station.
People can die from anything. Some things are worse than others, and I like to think we should draw the line at anything that causes harm faster than food can. A 300lb man eating a bag of chips can stop eating and pick up a dumbbell, and he doesn't have to worry as much about what he's done to his brain. I'm not as worried about a fat man, as I am about someone who has been stuck in a high all their life with no idea how to work in the real world without living off of welfare. Same with an Alcoholic.
Too many people have no self control, and maybe if that weren't an issue than I wouldn't be as against drugs and alcohol as I am. Sadly, the majority of society, especially in America, has little self control (look at the obesity numbers), and too much of the sweet taste of freedom has made people forget how to limit themselves. Since a large enough majority exists of these kinds of people exist, then it's in the governments best interest to protect it's people ("promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty ") by regulating what they do to themselves.
I'm not against it because of what it can do to you, I'm against it because of what certain people can do to themselves with it.
