When talking about fantasy books being made into series or movies I am usually at the forefront, having read most of what is now being considered for the screen. Witcher is different for me since I have not yet read anything written by Andrzej Sapowski or even played the games.

Witcher is a series of books written first as a set of short stories and then full length novels. What I gather from what I have seen and read about the series (written and tv) the feeling is like the old Forgotten Realms books BUT they keep central characters, like Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri etc.

I will be delving into the reading, however, right now I am truly enjoying entering a fantastic realm first through TV, then the writing.

I have played all the witcher games and only read 3 witcher books, the last wish, sword of destiny and blood elves. It is so easy to say that the books are better for so many series and games, just because books can tell more in depth about the characters and worlds. I have to admit CD Project Red just nailed the games, I enjoyed them more than the books. With that said there is nothing wrong with the storytelling in the books.

I have seen all the episodes of the Netflix serie. There are a ton of references and storylines one would only understand if they had more knowledge in the witcher lore.

I loved the series and I've never played any Witcher game. But I've read more then 65 pages of The Last Wish and i think books are much in depth then the show but that doesn't mean show is bad. If you've watched the season 1 and can't wait and feel lonely you can start books until season 2 comes out.

I really liked The Witcher's series, but I don't think it exceeds video games, much less books.

The show had such potential, but the plot descends into nonsense. Can't even tell that they're time jumping until like episode 5, when it becomes obvious. The show is kind of a mess, to be honest. Did enjoy some parts of it but damn, they could have done this better.

I only played The Witcher 3 but omg it was amazing. I still have a lot of the side quest left and some of the blood and wine dlc left though.
