I would go with the good old Eminem. He's well known and has some good tracks.

Easy, in terms of actual modern-day rappers (instead of the jibber-jabbering that some people are calling "rap" for some reason), I'd say Run The Jewel, Tech n9ne, Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar.

For the new-wave of melodic trap music, Playboi Carti is a really interesting rapper. His lyrics are repetitious and minimalist, but he has a great ear for instrumentals, so all of his songs are really nice to listen to while you're working on something.
