Raid Hook is a fresh realistic take on grappling hooks for any Garry's Mod gamemode which is designed similar to the hooks from Rainbow Six: Siege. A Realistic Approach
Raid Hook isn't a noclip gun like other grappling hooks are. It fires a hook projectile which leaves behind a rope. Players can press E on the rope to begin rappelling up or down a wall. During a rappel, the player actually walks on the wall until they either break into a window or disconnect by pressing E again. If you press E at the end of a ledge, it will place you on top.
Appearance Matters
The SWEP model is based on the crossbow but the bolt is replaced with a large hook. When the hook lands in the wall, a rope dangles just above the surface of the floor ready to be used. Players who are using the hook to rappel are attached at the hip with a spool of wire and they actually walk on the wall with " target="_blank">third and first person animations (NOTE: Due to a bug, third person animations only apply to the player using the hook). As players walk, a spool sound effect will play based on how fast they move. All of this is done with almost 0 resource downloads.
Realism and Balance
Hooks will only attach on vertical walls or props. If a player's hook hits a floor or sloped surface, it will bounce off. Players on a wall can only walk as high as the hook, and can only walk a fixed distance to the left or right. Only one player can be attached to one hook at a time, and only one hook can be attached to a wall per player. The weapons are TTT-ready for Traitors, Detectives, or both depending on the config setting.
