Is Gmod worth getting into?

I've been thinking of getting it, heard lots about it, but also heard its dying ?

Its really up to you. The game isn't really dying, its just like how people thought minecraft "died". People grow out of the game and say its dead, but there is always new players popping up and new communities being created all the time

Want to meet new friends? Yes
Want to meet toxic 11 year olds who chew on their mic everytime they talk? Yes
Do you have a creative mind and want to draw it/make it possible? Yes.

In all honestly, I love to meet people here.

Gmod has its waves, its definitely not as popular with development as it used to be so the gamemodes that have been running for the past 5 years are pretty much there to stay. With that said I've got 5000+ hours in it and still play to this day, it offers just about ever type of gameplay you could ask for.

I always thought of GMod as one of the most creative sandbox games out there. If you put aside the engine limitations, there are endless possibilities in this game thanks to the involved community.
