Opinions on doxing?

Honestly, I don't really care as long as the person did something wrong.

I have a fucked up ex-girlfriend who sometimes I wish I would dox lmao.

What do you guys think about doxing?

In some ways it infringes on free speech, in some ways it is free speech.
Most of the DOX information is usually acquired from legal means and just browsing the internet.
It can be a dangerous tool, but I'd rather get DOX'd than swatted.

It's a paradox, no pun intended. There's an incredible amount of work done to make communications more anonymous, hidden, or protected, either through encryption or entirely new protocols / projects. This is the whole premise behind I2P and other services. The strongest point of the Internet is the anonymity behind it, which protects people's security and serves as a reassurance that they can't be removed for what they say. By deanonymizing someone, you're taking that security away from them, and opening someone up to infringement.

I am of the same opinion as most of these comments because those people who deserve I.E (Racist, arrogant people talking about" you know what I do for a living", people harassing kids, etc etc) they all deserve it and worse. too many people these days think they can start shit and not get punished.

Doxing, depends on the situation tbh. I feel like it could be okay in some cases you just have to know the whole story

it shouldnt be done to everyone that says fuck you, it should be done to people that you truly know are bad people and deserve it

Not a fan of it, I think by doxing a person because you don't like them is going too far, no matter what the reason is.

isnt doxing just leaking someones address? if so id say as long as the doxxed person has done something honestly wrong its understandable to dox them

i think its pretty dumb, we all live on the same world. whats the point of leaking someones info like damn just mind ya bizzzz

depends on the situation, if the doxed did something genuinely worth doxxing them then fair enough
