I just took a couple semesters of Java but it was kind of rushed due to covid and we never got to GUIs ):

So what was your first programming language? Also sidenote does anyone know of any good Java resources where I could follow along with some simple projects from start to finish? I feel like I still need the training wheels on and I want to put some more tools in my toolbox, so to speak.

I have started my languages with Qbasic in 1998. But the first genuine language was C & C++.

Does HTML count as a programming language? If not, then Java, but I remember teaching myself HTML to fake a website page to trick my sister into thinking she won tickets to a concert. She had broken a figurine and blamed it on me, so I got made and anger learned how to make the page to get back at her. Ended up getting grounded for a week when she found out it was fake and told on me to my parents.

It was HTML and CSS in the prime years of MySpace when customisation was all the rage

Not really a programming language I guess, but I started with LUA making stuff for GarrysMod.

I think I technically started programming using CircuitWizard to do simple "if pin 2 is active, activate pin 4" type logic in electronic circuits using flowcharts, but then after that I did a little python before going to University and doing a whole bunch of Java.

As for Java resources, I'm pretty sure codeacademy has a Java course, otherwise, I know Java is a popular language for University CS courses, so it is potentially worth looking online at Universities and seeing if they have their course information online. e.g. my University has all of it's course material online: https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/teaching/1920/O...rials.html (just lectures, practicals require logging in iirc)

My first one was PHP, but that was ages ago. Now I'm more familiar with Java and C#

Pascal with paper and pen at school. I found it so difficult. It wasn't until I tried Java with a compiler that the concepts startedto make sense.

I started learning C++ a month ago but then got really busy and put it on hold for a while. I don't really have any motivation to continue since I'm not going into a programming job so yeah
I own a gmod server :o
