Im new to crypto and was wondering if there are any good guides or anything you can recommend I read or do before getting into it. What are good and stable currencies and what are good websites to use for a wallet.

Well its just the same as normal exchange like Forex. Feel free to get knowledge about it then implement it to bitcoins.

Nothing is stable in cryptocurrencies Smile be patient and read a lot before investing money or just invest what you can afford to loose.
Best wallet is hardware wallet so you do not depend on any 3rd party service, something like Ledger is nice.
Otherwise kraken / binance for trading and you can have a wallet wherever you want (coinbase, blockchain, ..)

There are quite a few handy guides if you enter "beginner to crypto" or something like that into a search engine! Good luck

I've been mining cryptocurrency for years (primarily Litecoin). Also, I've done considerable trading. You should get on an exchange-- I prefer Bittrex, because it has an efficient interface. Kraken is a very popular exchange, but its interface seems somewhat cluttered. As for a wallet, the best wallet is a hardware wallet, because it is the most secure. However, if you want an online wallet, I recommend "MyEtherWallet.com"-- at least for Ethereum storage.

Mining is a waste of time unless you have the sufficient money for it.

Cryptocurrencies are not a completely reliable way to make money, however if you are patient enough not to sell immediately the amount of cryptocurrencies can be well earned when the price is very good.
