Well, the word gender has a more nuanced definition than it used to, so I'd say there's however many there needs to be. As for biological sex, there are two sexes, and genetic abnormalities (I don't mean to be harsh there, but genetically anything but male or female is a malfunction of the reproductive system).

As many as you want. Gender is different from sex, there are only 3 of those (if you count intersex as it's own thing)

For me I only see three, you either have a pen1s, vagina, or none. That's all I really see it to me.

If the you consider gender to have a biological basis. There is only two.

If you consider that biological sex as not the final basis and that it is mire of a social construct. Who knows how many it can be. The SJW types tend to use this perspective.

I myself considered that question and my first posts had more weight to the argument than to consoder it as a social construct. Still gays and lesbians can be considered more of an sexual preference issue rather than a gender issue IMO.
