If you're after a long term investment, I'd argue bitcoin is a more likely win. It's the daddy of cryptocurrencies, whereas Litecoin is slowly getting surrounded by other similar alts.

Hey! I'm new here and i've been looking to get into crypto currency, but i'm divided between bitcoin or litecoin. Does anybody know the pros and cons of each?
Litecoin for sure, BTC is too much volatile and I don't recommendit

I pooled and bought into Bitcoin again back in March for around $6500, then sold off in almost everything throughout August. IMO, right now is not an ideal time to buy into Bitcoin. Historically, the first quarter is when you want to invest in Bitcoin. Anything is possible, but Bit going for $5000-$6000 a coin again either won't happen or would mean the global economy is facing down in to the toilet worse than earlier this year.

Litecoin is actually at buy levels right now. If the bottom on the global economy does not fall out, hold until you see a comfortable rise trending between Jan and June next year. Historically, October and November are the best times to invest, with April to June being the best to sell if you look at prior years since 2017.

Coinbase is what I have used in the past, but I would recommend using a trading platform such as TD Ameritrade or Kraken.

The idea is security. Cryptocurrencies once gone, hacked or stolen, are gone.

bitcoin is very volatile and quite high at the moment. Also consider the fees. for the investment to be good, the margin has to really higher to the fees, which can be tricky even for big amounts.
