So I have been wondering this a lot lately only because I am new to the video editing world, but what is your choice in video editing software? I am currently using Camtasia, but I have used Corel. Camtasia seemed to offer me a little bit more of what I was looking for then Corel. I have also heard that some people like Sony Vegas.

What's your guys opinion on editing softwares?
i use Final cut + ae + vegas for projects, ae is for advanced effects, vegas for basic cutting and velocity + some basic effects, final cut for basic effects and transitions

I use Premiere exclusively and it's the most accessible of the two softwares considered to be "industry standard" (Avid and Premiere). Final Cut is really easy to pick up if you're on Mac and Sony Vegas is also easy if you're on PC, and if you decide to move up to Premiere eventually Sony Vegas makes a good stepping stone. In terms of free software, DaVinci Resolve is definitely the best but I would look into Vegas as well and make a decision for yourself.

Added benefit of Premiere however is compatibility with After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition but it has a slightly higher learning curve than Vegas

When it comes to the best video editing software, you can't get better than Adobe's amazing Premiere Pro. first of all its available for both Windows and Mac users, second of all this software has everything you need to create truly Breath-Taken video's.

For me the best video editing software is Avid, for professionals. It's made to create documentaries and other big projects.

I use Premiere Pro for long stuff that doesn't need any effects or CGI of any kind
and After Effects for short clips, which I also later move to Premiere Pro again
