3 ways to get more players

1.discord partners. make a discord server about your server and partner up with someone
2.invite rewards. give players stuff for inviting friends
3.get your friends on your server nobody wants to join a server with 0 people online but if u can vget 2-3 players on then more people will join.

Just do what all the other servers do. Jam a ton of tags into your servers title + a catchy name at the end.

A server that doesn't exist yet is often the solution. With custom content and addons!

Also advertise your server and make the host name attractive

I find a good way to grow a player base is to find content that's not really multiplayer required but rather grinder (Solo) styled. Mining, Crafting these sorta objectives will give a small player base a long and time consuming object, While they are trying to complete this long object other players will eventually end up joining because they see the players with long play times and will also hope they want to play as long.

1. Make a place for players to be organized outside the server (Discord / Teamspeak / Forums)
2. Give players something fun, unique, and memorable to do in the server.
3. Give players rewards for joining your group or inviting friends. Maybe reward people for playing often.
4. Find someone to promote your server on social media. Seek out smaller content creators that are willing to play your server.
5. Make sure you're on regularly, it'll help out on server rating.
6. Also make sure you have your server's setsteamaccount var is set up (I went from 1 to 3 rating just by doing that)
7. Get a good staff team, make sure that new players have a good impression.

Okay, so this comes from me, a guy who has owned soooooooooooooooo many Garry's Mod servers. The goal is to get as many friends (doesn't have to be many at all) and have them all on the server at once to make your player count go higher up. There will always be people looking for smaller and newer servers, whether it is to get a high rank early on, just be a part of something new, or escaping some other server. When you get new players, there needs to be a combination of good content and making them feel valued (And I don't mean just make them feel valued, like actually value them), and they'll hopefully come back. It is kind of a snowball effect, the more people you have on your server at the same time, the more likely someone else is gonna notice and join.

have an active staff team that like to engage with new players. also making sure there's a lot of ways to make money is a good idea lol

Be unique, be fun, don't overcomplicate things or overdo things.
Keep it fun for others, dont clutter your server with every addon you come across.

Ask friends to help you out at the start with a playerbase, rest will come hopefully.
