Tips for teens looking for jobs

Obviously, lately jobs have not been easy to get. But I turned 16 a few months back, and I'm still looking for one, so that got me thinking after applying to 8 of them



Am I missing something?



So I thought to ask here, what tips would you guys try giving for teens looking for jobs is a pandemic?

try with a small job that does not need experience

Unfortunately you won't have many options, but you can certainly get involved online, for example by programming

Most fast food will hire anyone, retail in my experience typically want people over the age of 18 but you can get lucky, and if you're skilled or patient enough you can find people to program with online although you may not be paid at first in order to build up your portfolio. Would help for us to know what you're looking to get into. I mean, there's always just trying fiver, youtube, etc.

The most important thing you can say to a potential employer is that you are excited and ready to learn everything they have to teach you. But not so much that they feel like they'll have to hold your hand like you're very competent. Especially in covid, people are extra lazy so let them feel like you working there would make their lives easier.

Go do work online, help someone out who doesn't know how to use programs that you know how to use.

Most important advice for teens would be to avoid fast food jobs, they're depressing and should never be your first job, try getting a hobby like programming, and get paid pen testing.

Now a days there is tons of stuff online to learn skills - do as many of them as possible that interest you and see if any can be done online.

There were times in the past that Ive applied to hundreds of jobs with little to no response even though I had the skills and experience, so don't worry about not getting anything yet. Just keep applying and eventually you will get some interviews. I'm sure it's a bit harder now a days as well due to the whole pandemic situation.
