How to grow Playerbase?

Hey all, just started a Gmod server recently because I wasn't happy with the other servers out there. Decided to get back to Gmod after 5-6 years - especially because of COVID being locked in the house. Having little luck growing a playerbase though from 0. Don't really want to go on other servers and spam advertise.

Basically need players to get players and it's hard at 0. One guy just joins and leaves seeing how dead it is and it doesn't really snowball like it does on a server with a loyal playerbase.

What kind of server is it by any chance? And I wish you a safe return.

You need something that can attract lots of players, right now it just sounds like people are just joining randomly from the server browser.

Make your server original, something different than all the others. Make something unique.

It's one thing to make your server stand out. It's another to get a playerbase in the first place. No one wants to have a look when a server is 1/24 and there's no one to interact with online. Need players to get players basically lol.

Get some friends on regularly, make friends with the new players. Try and organize times to be on.

You need to make friends and get them to play. Thats how you grow your server and also thats how you get staff as you trust your friends.

Make something new - don't just do the same thing every other server has

id start out by having a bunch of friends join and play on with ya for the time being and just getting it to where it shows more than 1 person is online. Also make the server unique an not the same copy paste stuff that everyone is use to.

back in the days, realistic drug addons were the "go to's" nowadays it's cringe suit & futuristic stuff and cases in most of the servers.
Bring back the OG stuff, such ass realistic drug addons, try to make a semi serious RP, i recomment you "Another meth lab" a really great drug addon, tho it's based only on meth.
Either way, it's very great.
