Why gmod becomed unpopular?

Gmod became unpopular because it's a game too old and there are more games with better graphics and physics.

Well yeah, the age has a lot to do with how it's popularity has declined. I also imagine the fact that we're entering a generation where kids/teens/young adults have better things to do than play an old HL2-engine powered game. I feel like a big part of the problem is that GMod has been poorly optimized for so long, it's just a question of "how long until every long-time player gives up in frustration?" at this point.

I felt like it died because nothing new came out, everything was the same

Well for one people grew up and moved on and newer sandbox games have overtaken gmod in popularity i mean gmod has looked the same up until 2020 when facepunch changed there logo but gmod has the same old menu and look only recently changing the loading screen to show the map name gmod also is stuck on pc and never made it to consoles gmod on xbox would have been shit though.

It has still acitve devs so i dont think its unpopular

I will not say gmod it is like classical music will always be in the trend

i love garrys mod, it has a giant community and it will never get old
