Still on top, even though valve tries to kill it on a daily basis. If it wasn't for the own community creating 3rd party platforms, maintaining servers, creating new maps and all that, I bet it would've been dead since 2016.

This game is dead only because of the fact that it has a lot of cheaters and farms that make money. Stupidly half of the online is farmers of items in ice rinks or cheaters.

Yes, I believe Conter strike died due to the fact that valve was hammered on it and for a long time did not release an update, and cheaters are another story
