How do you discover new music?

If you're trying to be a tastemaker, this is what I rely on. Or the discover playlist always seems to have a few i didn't know.

Guess it also matters what type of music are you looking for. I find bandcamp a nice place to discover new artists. They have a well organized "Bandcamp Weekly" posts.
Also there are facebook groups for what ever genre you are into.

Discover music in videos with lots of surprises

Soundcloud mostly, I personally listen to a lot of different genres of music etc. and for me Soundcloud is where I find the most unique content, not sure if there are alternatives similar as I haven't tried looking. YouTube can be surprising at times and give a god tier recommendations but they don't come around often though

The best way it's on spotify

Spotify is the best and premium version is cheap on family variant.

I use the playlists from Spotify. Sometimes I also read articles on pitchfork.

I usually go for rateyourmusic.com or check the Pitchfork's reviews. Youtube or Spotify algorithms usually don't cut it for me.

What i do in Spotify is to start with an artist i like, or with a playlist (big ones if you look for mainstream music or user-created ones if you want more underground variety) then dive into the Related Artists page (right below their name) and surf through the musicians i find and listen to the ones with nice pictures or album covers lol

in "Your Library" you can find Spotify Mixes based on the artists you listen the most. It's great and works for me too
