If you want a good story just play AI dungeon and generate your own

half life series is probably my favourite for PC story games. haven't played alyx yet though as i dont have VR.

Red Dead 2, Metal Gear and the Yakuza Series are great although pretty long games

I really liked Heavy Rain.

For me is "Shogo" and Quake 3 arena, they have story mode, which you can learn on wiki
