If all of your emails, sent from php mail, or sendmail, are being put straight into the spam box, the way I fixed it was by changing line 318 in inc/class_mailhandler.php from :

Now all of the mail, whether it be a user emailing another user, or a mass email, will go to the inbox, rather than the spam box.

But Gmail will mark it as spam if the SMTP server the mail is coming from is not proper. And something tells me that changing a line in a PHP file is not going to change a SMTP servers settings.

May work for some, but for those that can't afford another server it works for now. In addition and off topic, but fuck your avatar. Everytime I am on the index I just star at it.

This method fixes the whole gmail issue.

I do agree, but this method fixes the whole spam box for those that can't afford an additional server.

No it won't. Not with a badly configured SMTP server.
