Ayato is a 5-star sword-wielding Hydro character, who is able to deal good damage as a sub-DPS, soak hits as an HP tank, or consistently apply Wet as an Elemental support. He is a flexible character, and can be prized for being a rare AoE Hydro support. Being a Hydro support is already good news for Ayato, as proved by Kokomis slow but surprising rise in the games meta.
Ayato can also deal significant amounts of damage when built properly, as his abilities scale well with his HP. When built using his signature weapon, or the Primordial Jade Cutter, he can easily defeat groups of foes with his strong AoE Hydro infusion.
Similar to Ganyu, Ayatos Elemental Burst applies a lot of Hydro (instead of Cryo) over a large area, which can be vital for certain Permafreeze or Electro-charged strategies. However, his burst also provides a great bonus to Normal Attack damage, which Yoimiya and Yun Jin can utilize properly.
