Advice Needed Stuck in the Aquaintancezone

I've liked a girl for over two years, but I just seem to be stuck in that area where we mutually know each other and converse occasionally, but are not really friends. We used to be minor friends because of a class period we shared, but now that the connection there is gone she's just someone I occasionally talk to that I see on the daily. Right now, I feel like I have no chance as the most interaction we get is me talking to her with the sole purpose of getting her to laugh with no substantial conversation for maybe 1-2 minutes every other week. What do you guys think is something I should do to at least try to become friends with her?
