I would wait 2-3 years for GOTY edition with all the content and bugfixes. So far it's a pretty mid game but it has atleast a huge community of modders making insane mods.
I was in the same boat. It looked lke such a commitment and the graphics aren't as crazy as I imagined in the run up but there's so much good content on there. Worth a go.
Honestly, if you're not big into space open-world games, you might not find Starfield that engaging. It's vast and time-consuming, so if you prefer something more straightforward and action-packed, it might not be your cup of tea.
