Serious Need help with some Math

Im kinda tired... I'll give u the results after a while or... But that's the way to find x and y
If u couldn't read it well I'll write it for u in a post ^^`

9x-(-2+1/2x)=36
9x+2-1/2x=36
18x-x/2+2=36
17x/2+2=36
17x+4/2=36
17x+4=36*2
17x=72-4
X=68/17
X=4

36+18y-18y=36
Y=0

My math is not very good either but I'll bite.

9best guess here - 18best guess here = 36
First you guess what x and y values are.
9 times best guess - 18 times best guess = 36
Then multiply 9 and 18 times those numbers.
Result - Result = 36
Substraction come LAST.

Mine is right. To verify
9(4)-18(0)=36

9x 18y = 36

Add -9x to both sides.
9x 18y + 9x = 36 + 9x

Divide both sides by -18
-18y/-18 = -9x + 36 / -18

So the answer would be: y = 1/2x - 2

Oh so it was just to find y, I though you must find both lol
