How can Istart on bitcoin mining? I've always wanted to do it but Idon't think i have the hardware to do so, Ihavetried downloading the bitcoin wallet but soon i gave up because of how long it takes it said 2 years and 27 weeks of transactions or of something to download left. I have AMD athlon II x2 (overclocked) to 3.8 GHz
with very good cooling and everything is stable and tested, 4GB ram, Ge Force 860 (old) , 500GB HDD and ofcourse my lovely DVD player which gives me that extra performance ; )

From memory CPU mining is really slow, you want to use the processing power from your graphis card (could be wrong) Maybe upgrade your dvd player . Your specs probably aren't good enough to mine effectively but if you can spare the cash then build/buy a dedicated bitcoin mining machine or rent some cloud based services which would be much better for your situation. Although depends on your interest, if you want to use bitcoins just to do shady transactions then once you are considered "trusted" you'll be able to participate in currency exchanges eg. PayPal for BTC. If you are doing this to make money then I suggest you go with what I have mentioned previously.

Also you need more than a wallet to mine lol, check out popular mining pools. If you need help getting started just flick me a pm I can explain this more in detail.

Bitcoin mining is really hard these days, I would just advise trying an altcoin.

Solo mining isnt worthwhile.
heres why. lets say u have 0.1% chance per day of mining 1 bitcoin which is equal to 1000. thats pretty slim and reward is great indeed. but possibly you will never get to harvest any bitcoins -> 0 money gained. If u team up tho, group of 50 people for example, you raise your chance of mining bitcoin each day to 5% which is much better because it almost guarantees you that you will mine something.

I never mined nor explored the topic too much. I believe mining train has passed tho, at least on this not so proficient level. U'll have to make calculations because u can possibly end up with bigger electrical bill than earnings Tongue

You could try local bitcoins, there are a few sellers around near you basically anywhere in the world.
