I've been using Malwarebytes and ESET for years now

I use ESET and Malwarebytes too. I download a lot of malicious shit and they've helped me a lot.
I also use a VM to test unknown things or something I don't trust.

If I didn't use ESET, I'd use Kaspersky or BitDefender, but they cost money and I haven't found a way to get them for free.

I use ESET NOD32 past few years.

Just watch what kind of files you download and execute. When you have to use something from a shady source run it under a VM or Sandboxie.
There's no real need for an antivirus ifyou know what you're doing.

The best antivirus is to not be stupid.
Legit 90% of all viruses I have ever seen have been because they downloaded and ran a sketchy .Exe file on their computer.
Sure there are the few exceptions, but I would recommend Revo uninstaller, so you can just remove anything sketchy yourself / everything it is linked with.

That's what I used in the past. But then I had to buy a new computer because the old one wouldn't boot up anymore.
I've tried AVG, which was given a test infected file as a form of test, and it failed. So did most of the "free" anti-viruses.
That's why I'm using NOD32 (revealed and preventedall of my attempts to infect my own machine).
