I like the gritty kind, watched some attack on titan, not for me.
Love berserk. I just hate generic anime where everybodies happy and lives happy and so on so forth.

Any recommendations? Death note was cool too.

To name a few: if you're into mafia then 91Days is worth checking out, there is also Elfen Lied, School Days, Ajin. I haven't seen these myself yet, but have been recommended myself; Grantz, Saikano and Texhnolyze.

My favorite is "Sword Art Online". Not sure why, I guess I just like the concept.
Maybe you would be willing to try it out?
It is revolved around a bunch of people getting stuck in a MMO RPG game, and if you die in the game, you die in real life. The only way out is to beat the game.

Same, I love berserk specially the manga! I also suggest or recommend

+ 1 (since they mentioned it already)
- Ajin
- Re:Zero
- Gantz
-Another

-Claymore
-Elfen Lied
-Hellsing Ultimate
-Mardock scramble
-Kara no Kyoukai
-Serial Experiment Lain
-Ergo Proxy

It revolves in more serious plot.

That's people for you. Trusting one another, helping one another----- it's all a fantasy. Humans are creatures that will always betray.
