it used to be terrible and it still is
nowadays there are alternatives out there, so there's no reason to use it anymore

it has a terribly outdated UI and UX design in general
it's infested with ads
it consumes way too much resources
and the voice quality varies

Skype is dying I remembered I used skype like every day but now It's just sitting eating my ram.

Time to move away from Skype I guess?

Could be a porting issue try opening some ports but if you don't care about security DMZ.
