What's the deal with DarkRP?

Why is DarkRP is the most popular gamemode out there? I just don't understand. The gamemode itself is ok but I fail to see why and how did it become the most popular gmod gamemode.

This is because of streamers mainly, and like 4-5 years ago this gamemode had a real great roleplay community, now it's just a way to make money

This mode was designed so that people could understand how and what not to do, but what you can try, for this, and make various modifications and add-ons

DarkRP is a great mode.

People like DarkRP because they like to got something which don't gone after time (money, level, etc)

I personally hate darkrp, it's too outdated which is why starwarsrp is better

Its the gamemode with the most diversity and different things to do.

its popular because its less arcade like, some what of a progression system with money
base wars are fun but most servers are corrupt/boring due to poor management

Well, guess everything has its end someday but yeah it's still fun

DarkRP is still very much popular I feel, depending on the community you have.
