Is stranger things actually good?

All my friends are telling me to watch this show. What's the hype about this TV show? Is it really worth my "TIME"? Will it teach me stuff that I had not known before? Please summarize the TV Show without spoiling it to me, because I do not want to know what happens if I were to watch it.

I don't like horror shows like the Walking Dead or An American Horror Story, or even just TV in general. But Stranger Things is the best thing i ever watched. It is so good, you'll like it.
