Why do you have to use the hide tags for leaks?

I'm new to this site, just logged on today. I see a bunch of hidden content from unregistered/new users, why is that?

Well my dude you dont have to, comments just boost the thread up to my knowledge, they also allow u to gauge how many people wanted ur program.

Its to prevent leachers. Basically people who came here to only download content without contributing.

So what SatanicSalad said was completely false or just not entirely true?

it's to stop the leechers in the forum and make the thread boosted

So people have to contribute something to be able to leech, it keeps the forum healthy.
That being said, I hate it.
