Whilst investigating the death of a local painter, a brave CSI membercalled Joe Rodriguezuncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, ripped hat circulating throughout Ireland. As soon as anyone uses the hat, he or she has exactly 40 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look mirrored. A marked person feels like a solid ice cubeto the touch.
Joe gets hold of the hat, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a quiet lizard balancing on a minuscule painter, an old newspaper headline about a bungee jumping accident, a hooded pigeon ranting about arms and a drinking well located in a dirty place. Joe then thinks to him self what do all these mean?
When Joe notices his warts have horse-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the ripped hat is true and calls in his lover, a doctor called Sophia Robinson, to help.
Sophia examines the hat and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the quiet lizard balancing on a minuscule painter particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Joe and Sophia pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded pigeon. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
