Venezuelan Government announced the creation of a Venezuelan cryptocurrency

Nicols Maduro, President of the Republic, announced on Sunday the creation and implementation of a cryptocurrency in the country, which will be backed by oil, gold, gas and diamond reserves.


"We are going to implement a new cryptocurrency system based on oil reserves, in order to advance in the area of monetary sovereignty, which will allow us to advance to new forms of international financing," the Venezuelan head of state said.



In this context, he said that the cryptocurrency will be called "Petro"
