I learnt using sin (mathematics) expressions in after effects a while ago. I think of sharing it here since i find it pretty cool.These are mainly used to flip the wings. They are used in the butterfly animated below, i think the animation looks pretty smooth.

The expression i used to rotate the wings was :-

math.sin(time*effect("slidervar_1")("slider_layername"))*30
I am just trying to show the use of this expression as used to loop abutterfly.

Actually, this mathematical sin() function has a period of 2 angle with maxima of 1 at /2 and 3/2. It's symmetric across the x-axis across equal and different parts in its cycle.This function is pretty well suited to representbutterfly wing wiggle.

Wow looks great. I think the animations of the wings turned out smooth and clean.

Its smooth because its a perfectly periodic function timed with same start and end point.

yes! indeed its a very useful mathematical function, i will be posting more uses of it relating to nature and things irl
