I have always seemed to ask myself this question, but I have always wondered why. Why is it that humans judge others based off of looks rather than judging them by who they truly are as an intellectual? It baffles me as to how people can do it, rather than getting to know someone and then judging them. I myself am judged based solely off of my looks by many, and it disgusts me. Everyone is so quick to judge, yet, won't take the time to get to learn about how someone truly is by actually talking to them.

I'm sure it is a natural human instinct for survival, but in today's day in age, we don't need to worry about the survival of ourselves by the way people look, we're much more advanced now than we ever were before. So tell me, why is it that humans do this?

What's your first thought when you are driving at 120km/h and you see a crash happening right in front of you? Evade or brake.

It's instinct, the car crash and judging someone.

It's instinct, the car crash and judging someone.

If you're driving at 120 km/h you don't deserve to drive.

Humans are curious, vein, and riotous things. The society we live in today is so close minded yet the exact opposite at the same time. Its hard not to judge someone by their looks, their actions even if its just in our head. It is a hard thing to beat a cycle of judgement.

Never mind I take back what I said, I didn't convert that to mph. But anyways, it may be instinct (as I stated in the thread, second part), but we've grown passed that, we really don't need it anymore.

Ah this is true. I suppose it is hard not to, unless you're open minded. But as you said, in today's age so many people will not even take the time to become open minded, as they'd rather stay in their same old ways.

It's mostly media driven.

In movies, 9 times out of 10, the young blonde woman is portrayed as someone who is dumb as hell and only talks about men. The black woman is ghetto as hell. The person with tattoos is a complete badass. When you grow up watching these movies, these stereotypes become real to you.

Simply because our brains are like that, whether we like it or not. It's not that people who judge fromappearance are dumb, it's just that it's the first thing we learn when we see a new person. Judging off appearance first isn't that wrong, it only becomes wrong if you don't change your opinion on the person after you actually get to know what they're like. Read about theHalo effect, it seems like it would interest you.

People just associate others by looks cause they think that nicer person are more organized, care about them more ect
