They are right though. The basis of strafe jumping is the core of bhopping, so perhaps practicing on bhop server will net you the timing and experience necessary to get those strafe jumps right.
I guess you could also fool around in other source games to practice too.

Join some bhop servers, practice with bots, try in deathmatch. That's my key to success when I was learning cs

PLenty of videos online that can help you with this too.

Literally just sidestep and shoot right when you're about to change your direction. That way you'll be accurate.

straf is not dead ! you can do this but it's more hard than cs 1.6

Strafing is Easy:
Hold A and look left smoothly
Hold D and look right smoothly

You're now strafing.
If you meant "how do you Bhop", then just alternate between the two above, and press Space right as you're about to hit the ground and you should be able to Bhop. Or you could find a server with Autobhop and not have to worry about the jumping bit.
