Did you ever get infected by one, share a story about how you dealt with it and your experience. I've never been infected by one and so does everyone else I know, so I was curious if someone had to deal with this.

I got infected when I was young by one of those Minecraft Generator. Was pretty easy to remove since I did a scan and got it removed in under like 5 hours. think that was around like 2011 or more back

Oooh I know what you mean, I remember there being a "generator tutorial" for like everything on youtube, like steam wallet gen. It's pretty smart but also a dick move since young people don't know any better.

I basically installed something, left my computer on, noticed something was up and reformatted my hard drive.

If you ever see someone else controlling your PC or something suspicious: Pull out the internet connection or turn it off completely.
If you're using a laptop, then either unplug the router, switch off the WiFi adapter or just pull out the battery and do 1 or 2.

Once you're done with that, get yourself an AntiVirus and try to get rid of it. If that doesn't work and you can't remove it manually, then reinstalling or restoring Windows is a good idea.

it's easy to remove.
get an anti malware and an anti virus
anti malware>malwarebytes
anti virus> avast
firewall protection something like comodo

and if all of these still didn't work. there's a white hat section on hackforums that help people with these kind of things.
