Be aware of energy levels of different breeds. And please dont buy one from a petshop. There are many good dogs in animal shelters, waiting for their new home.

First reply to this thread i saw useful, everyone was saying `its a responsiblilty....`, but this person provided something new and very important.
Its a much better idea to get a pet from an animal shelter then just buying one.
I am a Cat person, I love dogs but I never wanted to pet one because they are more like kids. They seek your attention and want to be played with all the time. Its a big responsibility to pet a Dog. So, if you can spare that time for your Dog then go ahead.
