GMOD Server

Hey i want to make a new gmod server i dont have too much money but i am looking forward to making it anyway,

But i have a few questions to ask,

What gamemode should i use?

What host would you recommended?

What forums should i use (free if possible)

These questions are biased but I'll give you some advice.

For picking a gamemode there are two routes: Top 5 gamemodes like darkrp and TTT which are guaranteed to not die for a while but also are harder to get going, Unique gamemodes that people rarely play but if they take off can win big.
You may have to try different gamemodes until you find one you're good at hosting.

For a host I'd say either: NFOServers, GMCHosting, or ELHS
NFO is good in just about every way
GMCHosting I can't say much about because I've not used them but they've been accused of shady stuff
ELHS I've used and is decent but they're new in the scene and still have some hiccups to work out

Forums depend on how tech savvy you are. You could use phpBB or myBB but those are a bit outdated and require a lot of setup
Enjin is easy to use but I'm not sure if its free and how many addons are available
I've seen people use invision but its paid AFAIK.

First of all

1. DarkRP, MilitaryRP or TTT server
2. use Online.net good dedis
3. Use Mybb, MistForum its good for Garry's mod

One you are unlikely to cope, most likely you will need help people who understand this

i dont mean anyhting by this, but making a gmod server in 2018 is pointless, unless you steal a player base form a big server its hard to last a long time

As for gamemode i would recommend DarkRP or Sandbox.

For the host i would recommend Nitrous Networks or Kryptonnetworks as they cheap but very good with ping as it is always low.

And the forums i would recommend you use Enjin which if you use the free version you will get ads and it wont look nice overall but is still free and also there is MistForums which is also free but no ads and looks professional!

If you are trying to do a G-Mod server there are mainly 2 things that you need to focus on at start

-Pushing donations to create extra time for you to make stuff better
-Keeping it all simple to avoid long downloads


G-Mod is a great game to learn how to code LUA, I myself speak from experience, but the community is mostly cancerous, and finding serious RP can be difficult.
