1.12, I personally hated the addition of horses and stuff, i liked the og vanilla minecraft

For me, it will always be 1.8.9... I love this version and still play it today.

For me, the 1.1 was the best because It was really simplistic and that was enough for the happiness of the players men

1.7.x...... Microsoft destroy it.... alone with the Win 10 version of it

I think, Minecraft's best version is 1.8.x. Because When I played it, There was 1.8

The best version has to be 1.7.10. I think they screwed up every update after that

1.8 was always my favourite beside 1.7.10 or 1.6.4

Beta 1.6 as nostalgic.
As for gameplay, any release version is good.
