Hey guys,

I am pretty sure most of you use PC but for the ones who don't, have you guys worked with an iMac Pro?
I do a lot of video and photo editing on my Macbook Pro. I mostly use FCPX/AE/Lightroom & Premiere Pro.

Looking for someone's feedback on the iMac Pro!

In my personal experience, you get so much more raw power from a pc. I also have a macbook bro but I do more of the heavy lift rendering on my windows machine. The amount you'd have to spend to get a decent iMac pro isn't worth it unless you have money to burn.

iMac Pro, now I have looked at those machines, but something does concern me enough that I am waiting for a Mac Pro. I have an iMac I got a few years ago, which renders videos within fcpx a lot faster than the MacPro 2012 I have, and even faster from the 12 core mac pro 6,1 my friend has. this speed gets a lot slower if you do more than 1 pass encoding for better quality, because of limitations of quick sync. The iMac also thermal throttles, and runs hot a lot of the time when stressed, and this is why my concern is. longevity.
I built a pc for use with after fx for my 3d editing which then gets ported over to the mac when finished. I also game, so the pc isn't just a one trick pony.

unfortunately, I haven't used an iMac Pro, so can't say its an amazing machine. My experience with iMac thermal throttling put me off it.

I recommend iMac Pro for vlogging and video editing.
It's also good for designers and content creators.

If you are looking to use it for gaming, don't.

I'd advise you to go with Windows if you are looking to game on it.

But the overall performance of iMac Pro is good, trust me.

In one way or another both are good for different stuff! Smile

I have an iMac retina 4k, couple of years old but it's great for photo editing. Can't justify the price tag of the iMac pro. I'd rather upgrade my laptop before buying one of those!
