This isn't more of a character pick but I would say to play Mystrey heros as that will let you see what you like without having to pick (and no one will scream at you for picking an "out of meta" hero).

best bet is to play everything and see what role you feel most dominant on

You should all try to find the character that suits you

Solider 76 is the default, but if i had to give a personal opinion and imma get hate for this, junkrat. He is a noobstomper, but you can do wonderful things with him if you get good, his ulti is op in the right hands as well.

There is no beginner character. But what I can recommend you is that you shouldn't start playing with Genji or Doomfist that require good positioning and combos. You should try all heroes and choose the hero you like most which one you want to practice.

Hi there, ^^

I'm new to Overwatch and I'm searching a character to start playing with.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you wanna play you can add me on Battle.net:Circada#2797

I don't have many friends Feelsbadman

Since you already have so many character suggestions, I will say the training range is a good place to start. Figure out sensitivity settings and such that work for you before you start playing (for each character).

Many of my friends claim that Mercy is one of the easiest to learn characters. You can easily avoid enemy combat and usually in casual at your MMR people will be too busy hitting the guys you are healing. This is a personal opinion but I really believe mastering Mercy goes a long way, although, again, many claim otherwise. You can reach Master if you only play Mercy - some people even tilt at the sight of such players.

I would say that Soldier 76 is the best beginner hero, as he isn't too aim intensive, but he still requires aim, ensuring that you will hone your skills while playing him. He can be played safely on a far back high ground, where he can use his constant and reliable damage from his pulse rifle to eliminate enemies, while offering high burst damage with his helix rockets. His E is very good, as it allows you be self sufficient and to take care of yourself, when often at lower ranks, you won't always have a reliable healer to bail you out -- and that is, if you even have a healer at all. :/ Plus, his sprint allows you to re position onto high grounds and evade enemies, and since it has no cool down, it's one less thing you have to worry about while in the heat of the battle. Finally, his ultimate is very good as it teaches you about when the best time to use your Q is. This is because you can get high value if say, their main tank is down, or if their dva was just de-meched, now you can go in and frag. While at the same time, it is an ult where you need to think about its usage, as very easily, you may just be shielded or defense-matrixed out of using your quad kill. Overall, Soldier is an owesome all-round hero which teaches you all that you need to know when newly hopping in to Overwatch. I could not recommend this hero more, and it gives you the groundwork to use as a jumping point to go to any other hero or role. Hope this helped. Smile
