What are your opinions for finding staff for a server?

If you've ever ran a server before then you must understand about getting staff to take care of there server. So how do you choose your staff? Are you lenient with your decisions or do you grade harshly; which one do you find more effective?

I've run a few DarkRP, Sandbox, TTT servers before. In my personal experience, I choose my staff from those users that have played on the server before and for quite some time, or if I have a good mutual relationship with them. I generally had some 'trial' ranks for them to have and they'd be under supervision to see whether or not if they were up for the rank. As for the decisions that I take upon my own staff are dependent on whether or not if it's their first offence. If it's the first one I'll be more lenient, but if things keep carrying on in a bad way, then I'll have no choice but to be more harsher on them, especially on the higher ranked staff. On the contrary, I generally have the policy of just giving them a warning first, and if it happens again then their actions will have consequences.

I choose staff who are the best, the staff team must be good.

From the few servers I've run in the past, my staff almost always comes from either people on my friends list that I knew would be good staff, or players that are regulars and that I know are mature enough to be staff. Also, kids that play a lot and ask to be admins almost always abuse their power and make bad management decisions. So basically anyone older than 15 that knows what they're doing make good staff.

You just have to be patient, rushing things will cause corruption.

If ur lenient a staff member may take it as an opportunity to abuse there power compared to you

It is difficult to search for people, even for your company, even for your server. I had friends on my server.
