what is the best ddos protection, and please post the best free ones below!!

CloudFlare. There are many features even in the free version.

I also use CloudFlare, even though SerenityServer's Anti-DDoS is great, the time I was with them there were small drops when the DDoS was very powerful.

Well, Cloudfare gives you free ssl protecting and ddos protecting for absolutely 0$ so stop complaining.

+1 on the whole cloudfare thing, not only is it free but you see larger websites using it all the time now.

I am using CloudFlare for over 6 years now on my sites. It's the best service you can get.
